Verified Caller ID (Stir Shaken): Bring More Security and Authenticity to Your Company’s Communications!
Stir Shaken is an innovative technology that authenticates and validates phone calls, ensuring greater security by blocking fraud attempts such as spoofing, where criminals mask the origin number to appear legitimate.
This process works in three phases: the number’s identity is verified by the originating provider, the call receives a digital signature, and the recipient’s provider performs the final verification. As a result, consumers can trust the calls they receive, knowing the number displayed is real and secure.
A Global Solution Making Its Way to Brazil
While Stir Shaken is already being used in several countries, its implementation in Brazil still faces some challenges—especially regarding device compatibility.
Anatel, the agency overseeing this implementation, has been working to modernize telecommunications networks, with the system expected to be widely available by the end of 2024.
However, many smartphones in Brazil still need operating system updates for the technology to function fully. Companies like Google and Apple must roll out these updates to ensure full compatibility.
Recently, Anatel also renamed the solution to “Origem Verificada” (Verified Caller ID) to make it more understandable to the public. The goal is to increase market adoption following initial tests, which have already involved over 30 million calls across Brazil.
A Game-Changer for Sensitive Sectors
For industries that handle sensitive information—such as banking, insurance, and customer service—this technology is a major advantage. Call authentication increases security and transparency, prevents fraud, and strengthens trust between businesses and customers.
In an increasingly digital and connected market, adopting Stir Shaken is a smart way to protect your clients’ data and secure your communications.
